About Us
The Glenview name is borne from the area where the current manufacturing facility exists – a mountain area west of Lough Allen and north Arigna, steeped in history with a long and varied mining history. The first coal mine opened in Arigna in 1765 being Ireland’s only coal producer at the time. Initially supplying the surrounding counties by horse-drawn carriages until 1817 when the canal from Battlebridge on the river Shannon to Lough Allen was excavated allowing Arigna Coal to reach every corner of Ireland. In 1957 a power station was opened with Arigna’s coal burned to turn the turbines. In 1990 the Mines closed hailing the end of an era.
With no future in coalmining other avenues had to be explored and in 1993 Hillstreet Quarries was formed with a view to quarrying stone mainly for supply to local authorities. Glenview was created in 1998 to focus on discreet volumes to merchants in the surrounding counties. Since then the company’s extraction of golden sandstone from its vast 700-acre site has proven to be a much sought-after product. Through dynamic growth, Glenview now finds itself as an industry leader exporting products into mainland Europe and contributing to a vast array of projects such as landscaping, Specialist Sands, DIY building ranges, and decorative surface dressing to name but a few.
With our new enhanced range Glenview can now offer a full range of professional natural, guaranteed Irish stone products for the Landscape Gardener, Architect, Golf Courses, Builders Providers, Garden Centres, Civil Engineers, and contractors involved with industrial and commercial projects.
Glenview offers a nationwide delivery service direct to premises or sites with truck-mounted offloading facilities available. Our aim is to achieve excellence through perseverance and to do that we give our customers a service second to none whatever the cost. Complete customer satisfaction is paramount to Glenview.
